Trek vs Star Wars

Post  0001 on 11/20/2009, 12:52

Eat your heart out Trekkies. Wink

Top ten ways in which Star Wars is better than Star Trek:
10. In the Star Wars Universe weapons are rarely, if ever, set on "stun".
9. The Enterprise needs a huge engine room with an anti-matter unit and a crew of 20 just to go into warp - The Millennium Falcon does the samething with R2-D2 and a Wookiee.
8. After resisting the Imperial torture droid and Darth Vader, Princess Leia still looked fresh and desirable - After pithy Cardassian starvation torture, Picard looked like hell.
7. One word: Lightsabers.
6. Darth Vader could choke the entire Borg empire with one glance.
5. The Death Star doesn't care if a world is class "M" or not.
4. Luke Skywalker is not obsessed with sleeping with every alien he encounters.
3. Jabba the Hutt would eat Harry Mudd for trying to cut in on his action.
2. The Federation would have to attempt to liberate any ship named "Slave I".
1. Picard pilots the Enterprise through asteroid belts at one-quarter impulse power - Han Solo floors it.

That list right there proves that Trekkies are better... We could really give a @$&# less about star wars, while you have to go bash it and try to find a way star wars is better.

Go suck a lightsaber.

(star wars is complete fantasy)
(star trek could happen with enough technology)

I really don't care about the "It can happen" factor. Both Wars and Trek are very far-fetched and have scientific contradictions.

I prefer Star Wars because it has a better story and the action is awesome. Star Trek is pretty cool.

So add me to the "Warriors"... Razz

Do you really think that life could exist on a planet that is all desert, and orbits a twin star system to boot? No.

TIE Fighter stands for "Twin Ion Engine" Fighter. Could a ship like that really just take off and fly through space like that? No, it takes a little while to get ion engines kickin'.

Do you honestly believe that you could maintain a space station the size of a small planet?

Many of these questions arise. Not many people realize that both Star Wars and Trek are Science FICTION, and they are meant to be taken as fiction.

I actually like huge cruiser battles more than dogfights. But even then, Star Wars beats Trek at that... Look at episodes III and VI.

Tell me about it... Razz I think I'll just let some of the earlier comments slide because I'm too tired to argue them. But yeah Ion engines in fact ALREADY exist as a power source. And a space station that size COULD exist with a large enough power supply. Plus Tatooine could exist, it's suns may be twin, but they are farther away then ours, plus it has water and a breathable atmosphere, so theoretically it could happen. Plus it wasn't always a desert, like most of our deserts here on earth. Wink

I know ion engines exist... They just aren't NEARLY as powerful as TIE fighters make them out to be.

What about maneuvering a huge space station like that? I highly doubt even the Empire could lug that thing around the galaxy.

Yes, Earth's deserts weren't always deserts, but there would be serious chaos if the WHOLE PLANET became a desert.

All right, there are some minor issues, but I wouldn't write it off as totally impossible. There's some crazy stuff that can happen out there in the galaxy. Wink

Sorry doesn't work the laser gun and phasers are different things so you can't. And a phaser would be easier to build so you slump instead.

The "lasers" on Star Wars aren't really lasers. They're bolts of contained plasma.
