Too bad I don't use mining mechs, but BATTLE mechs that have fusion cores rather then engines. Wink Razz Perhaps we should move this to the Battletech discussion area?

I have no idea, it plagues us. We should work to get back on topic. So, how does everyone like Black Ops?

Speaking of co-op, I wish Republic Commando had that feature, they really missed out on that one.

Republic Commando Co-Op, ohhhh.... *daydreams*

*wakes up*

hew wah wuh

So Black Ops is a quite impressive game. The story was good, it was something new (coulda had a little less cursing, the first words out of the main character's mouth in the first few minutes of the game is F*** YOU! Razz Then again he was tied up in a torture chair.)

What I love about Black Ops is that it uses old weapons. I was a fan of Rainbow Six, a shooter that came out in the 90s and continued to present day, and one of the things I loved was the variety of weapons. Black Ops has all the Rainbow Six weapons of old! The HK21 is my favorite: a light machine gun with a regular clip (you can purchase a drum mag for it, of course).

Which leads me to the other thing I love about Black Ops: You buy EVERYTHING. You earn COD Points as you play, and in order to buy a new rifle, a new SMG, a new LMG, a new sniper rifle, a new shotgun, a new pistol, a new launcher, a scope for a rifle, a grip for a rifle, a grenade launcher for a rifle, EVERYTHING is bought SEPARATELY.

So I've been rolling with the HK21. I bought a Reflex Scope for it, and bought sleight of hand to use with it for a spell. Then I bought a drum mag, and bought the Warlord perk which allows to have two attachments (normally you can only have one).

In Modern Warfare 2, everything is unlocked. You have to get 10 kills to get the grenade launcher! Then 20 with the grenade laucnher to get the Masterkey shotgun! Then 25 kills overall to get the Red dot sight! Then 60 kills with that to get the holographic sight! Then 75 kills overall to get the silencer! Then 15 silenced kills to get the heartbeat sensor! Then 150 kills to get the ACOG sight! Then 20 ACOG kills to get the thermal scope! Then 300 kills to get the enviable full metal jacket (FMJ!) Then 40 kills shot through surfaces with FMJ on to get extended mags!

I'm lost. Yes, it seemed electric and exciting every time you unlocked something, but there is so much, and it makes it all so easy.

Black Ops, however, makes it a little smarter, almost a little harder. You have to be smart: you have to pick your weapon purchases wisely. You can't just buy every assualt rifle to say LOOK AT ME I HAVE THEM ALL, that's a waste. And then you have to upgrade your guns wisely. Do you want a Reflex sight or an ACOG sight or a thermal sight? Maybe I want a thermal sight for this but a red dot sight for that, but a masterkey shotgun for that, etc. etc. You get the idea.

Instead of instant gratification (i.e. oh you got 10 kills, grenade launcher time!), you have to use your brain and think about the purchases you're going to make.

Another thing I like is wager matches: I've played four Gun Games so far. I won three of them in first place and placed second in one. I just like the Gun Game. Razz

So if you're debating: MW2 vs. Black Ops, as much as I liked MW2, Black Ops is just... better.

Nice review 80-0, I definitely like it when games get smarter and more realistic, one of the biggest things that bothers me is the fact that ammo and health are just lying around in battlefields, and so are new weapons right when you need them, when in real life does THAT ever happen? lol
