Joe's Astro-Journal

Post  Jedi Joe on 2/5/2010, 22:04

Okay, from now on I'm gonna be reporting what I find with my telescope.

Feb 6th 2010: I just saw Saturn tonight and it was AMAZING! The rings were very vivid and popped out at me! At first I was a little sad that I probably won't be observing Jupiter anymore until August, but this will definitely keep me busy.

I don't have any real photos, but I simulated what I saw in Celestia. This will give you an idea of what it looked like:

I got mine for my b-day, it's a small/moderate one. It cost about $200, but you can get it for $150 here:

Truth be told, I'm broke too. That's how I got it for my B-day...

If I had money, this would be the scope I would get:

Yea, but that's for the observatory. I'm talking for personal use. Razz

I plan to get some more Saturn observing tomorrow morning, because I'm waking up at 4 AM to see the last dark sky shuttle launch.

Well, both the Saturn observation AND the Shuttle launch have been scrubbed due to low clouds. Better luck tomorrow...

Haha. I didnt think my joke was that great.. Even though it wasnt really a joke.
Seriously, I wish I had money for more than that.. I so wish I had a telescope last night..
Last night I was laying out in the backyard on the trampoline just looking at the sky thinking.. The stars were beautiful. I just wish I was able to see them closer!

Tell me about it, I currently have a wimpy little spotting scope, barely good for looking at the moon with. Sad

@Joe: Well hopefully the weather will clear up soon.
