General McChrystal

Post  0001 on 6/23/2010, 22:31

So.....Obama sacked him for criticizing the regime? I understand it's important to have a unified military, and those comments weren't the wisest thing an officer in his position could have said, but is it bad enough to warrant firing him?

Wow...

This further reminds me that Obama is a sorry excuse for a politician, let alone a president... Rolling Eyes

Yeah, this was kind of a bit of a shock to me too, I mean whatever happened to freedom of speech?

I must admit though, I think Petraeus is the better general and has done a better job... But still, McChrystal can't voice his opinion? He's the one actually going to war here... Rolling Eyes

Ya, so perhaps things will find a way of working themselves out in the end. I think what got him was he was on-duty when he said those things, which was unproffesional, but still.

Very true Joe, I think it was the small fact he is a General is what did him in, but still, I think it was a tad harsh. Obama is doing what he should be doing with BP, with his Generals instead. Laughing

Things like this just make me say why do we need to invade these places and start wars which may never end.

You choose to wine over every issue that comes up that you don't agree with? You don't realize how hard being president is and what did Bush do start a war in Iraq where no nuclear weapons were found. Before you talk about budget consider how much money a war wastes.

Um, because they attacked us? They were the ones who started the war to begin with. The war has only been going on for 9 years, and you people make it sound like an eternity. War is long, and cannot be dealt with overnight.

Well sometimes, Desert Storm anyone? Wink But yeah, especially when you are fighting a very mobile guerilla force, it's not easy stuff. I think it's cowardly of Americans, who ALL supported the war to begin with, to want to pull out now and not finish the job. Honor dictates that if you decide to start something like this, then you finish it. But America has always been about self interest... Rolling Eyes

No, America HAS NOT always been about self interest. George Washington was all for honor and hope. There are countless others who have made a difference with honor and grace like Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Lincoln, Reagan, heck, even Bush... Just because the unsilent idiots are about self interest doesn't mean the rest of the country is. Rolling Eyes

Yes, yes we are. I see you Joe. Razz I'm just disgusted with people, kind of always have been their so conceited, so self centered, so moronic, and so utturly foolish and blind. As a whole, the human race is not known for making good decisions, or doing the right thing. They're just so......lost. Neutral

The war in Afghanistan is America's fault in the first place as we supported the Taliban against the Russians. Then we toppled their regime thus causing them to attack us.

True true, except that America IS made up of bad greedy corporate capitalists. When greed takes over, and is the driving force behind it all, then mistakes are made, things are coveredd up, all to increase profit margins. Wink That's why the market crashes the way it does. The market is easy to pinpoint when it crashes because it always does right after all the people who remembered the last crash have retired or moved out of the system. It's all one big cycle, the Bible talks all about human nature, and explains the psychology behind it all, it's really quite simple in it's nature.

True, but greedy companies are supposed to fail... But with the government bailing them out, the process has been disturbed, and things aren't working right.

Post  80-0 on 6/27/2010, 10:16

Joe has a point in his latest post. The only reason so-called capitalist corporations are succeeding is due to socialism. These corporations would be crushed in a capitalist system, from the competition and whatnot.

You see, socialism destroys competition, i.e. takes out the small businesses that just might be doing a better job than the big rig corpo's, but on a smaller scale. This means people have to go to the big corporations for the product which is no longer available on a small scale. Now you might say that even with all the small businesses to compete with the big ones, people would still stay with the big ones, but I then say that wallabies are adorable furry animals, and you agree with me.

EDIT: By the way, General Petraeus was at the graduation in a school very, very close to where I live. Within the twenty, maybe even the ten mile radius. It's too bad, I would've loved to meet good ol' Betray-Us, oops, sorry Move On.org, did you patent that phrase? Well too bad. He's a great man. And so is McChrystal.

Yeah, Joe does have a very good point there, and I do agree completly with it. Haha 80-0 I'm not sure it's socialism to blame, although I will admit that was is happening is similer to socialist principles. However in true socialism, the people are the ones that are supposed to be reaping the benefits, in this odd skewed version.....of whatever you want to call it.......the big corporations and greed tycoons are the ones reaping the reward. So it's not really socialism per se, but some freaky hybrid thing that runaway genetecists created in a lab somehwere in China or North Korea. Razz
