Obama's school speech

Post  0001 on 9/9/2009, 11:01

I don't know about the rest of you, but all this stupidness around Obama's school speech is nonsense. How all these people are up in arms just because he wants to adress students? Comeone he's our PRESIDENT, whats wrong with him adressing the schools? Just because he's black and different, suddenly it's wrong for the president to talk to kids? What has this world come too... It's not the government that rules America, it's common stupidity, fear, and paranoia. Rolling Eyes

The big stink is about the government forcing schools to watch Obama's little "speech". But that certainly didn't happen, since I was never forced to watch it. They didn't even show it in my school...

Well yeah, but I think we have much more important things to worry about then Obama talking to the kiddies. Like oh I don't know, maybe RUNNING THE COUNTRY and making the world a better place? Wink

lol... there's a lot of fun it that.
His speech was good, but the same thing you'd expect from any other president in our history.
and did anyone else notice that the BLACK kid was the one up on the stage?
Not being racist or anything... I'm simply making an observation.

So what? Race is overated, it means nothing. I think people are too hung up on it. Racism is just another fault that serves to pervert our society. Rolling Eyes

Why don't we look a the people who voted for Obama just because he was black? Aren't those people racist?

Yet they call the conservatives racist just because they didn't vote for Obama. Most conservatives don't have racist attitudes (Only the really radical ones).

I chose not to support for Obama because:

- He wants to socialize healthcare

- He wants to pull out of the war

- He thinks that negotiating with people like Maumoud Achmedinijaad will work, when it's been tried before, and hasn't worked.

- He thinks he can help the economy by spending more money.

- He associates himself with people who curse America, bomb American buildings, and people that think we should euthanize old people and give animals equal rights

Many more things that have nothing to do with race. Obama is bad because he is a socialist, not because he is black.

He is NOT a socialist, I assume you listen to Rush Limbough don't you? Rolling Eyes No offense, but what you just listed, is the overall view of Republicans, they are so blind and stuck in the pit they've dug, that nothing can function. Keep an open mind, be informed, don't just blindly believe everyhing you are told from an overly bias source. Wink I can see this bursting into a fight, so I'm locking this.

WHAT? Why would you lock this? It's a simple political Argument. This will be healthy for our forums. My view on this is that Obama IS a socialist. The way he wants to do things will ruin small business like my parents. I personally don't like Obama and I believe he isn't doing what he should to save our country.

Alright, it's unlocked............for now. I agree he is not doing what is best, he seems, confused might be a good way to put it. But I shy away from calling him socialist. I'd say more like, not up to the task. And what a task it is, lets be honest.

I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh. As much as I respect him, I think he gets a bit too radical.

I watch Glenn Beck, he's a conservative who believes in the constitution. And what Obama is doing, is unconstitutional.

Don't get facts from TV or radio show hosts. Just don't.

I believe I ranted elsewhere on how Obama's not a socialist, so I'm not going to repeat myself.

Stay in school kids, and remember to specify the supporting arguments of your opinions, so you don't end up crying "How unconstitutional!" without saying how, or what part of the constitution is being violated.

THANK YOU! That is such a stupid common thread these days. "Socialist!" they yell, without even knowing what it means to be socialist.... Rolling Eyes

You can be a socialist without being a radical Marxist... You do realize that, right?

Many of the countries we are allied with are socialist nations. Yes, all socialism really means is that you have big government and bad healthcare. And I got most of what I believe from the research I have done on Obama. I do enjoy me some Glenn Beck but I don't rely on him hand and foot, but I do fully support him and the 9/12 project.

Yea, and just to clear things up, I wasn't calling Obama a communist, I was calling him a socialist. Big difference there.

Socialism is applied to nations like Britan and Canada, which have very flawed healthcare and big government, but otherwise the people are free.

Communism is like socialism on steroids. Big government controlling everything, and the people have no say in it.

I believe Obama is a socialist because he believes we can have government-run healthcare and is trying to get government involved in everything. And also he believes in abortion, so that in itself in inexcusable and takes away any support I would have in him.

Strong argument. I heard some guys were trying to weasel in abortion into the healthcare bill. If they do that, then by golly they'll make an enemy out of me. Abortion (for the most part) is inexcusably and morally WRONG.

My only point is that you shouldn't use socialism like it's a dirty word. Nothing in politics is clear cut and black and white. There are things that are good which have socialist aspects, as well as (many) things that are not so good that have socialist aspects. So it's wrong for people to think "bad!" when they hear the word "Socialist."

And just for the record, I'm not a fan of excessive government involvement with corporations, save for consumer protection. Big Brother is no friend of mine.

Abortion. We need a thread on that.... Because it's a HUGE topic.
However, it is NOT going to go in the Christianity Thread. That would be bias of us.
