Correct, but they are spreading themselves too thin, trying to do too much at once, and spending a LOT of money on things that have questionable purpose and function often times.

No Crinkle, both sides do not love to spend. Lately though the Republican party has been infested with career politicians and RINOs like John McCain whose voting records are all over the place...

The Democrat party's politicians are united, but its voters are not. The Republican party's politicians are split, but it's voters are united. That's what's what.

You cannot say both sides don't love to spend money as you have no proof as I don't either.

My proof are the many quotes by conservative thinkers who reject high spending. Look, the two sides are not Democrat and Republican. The two sides are conservative and liberal. There are conservative AND liberal members of congress who call themselves Republicans; the same goes for Democrats. It is the underlying ideologies that defines where a politician really stands... it is not a mere party name that denotes political allegiance.

To conclude I will once again quote G.K. Chesterton, who says: "Do not look at the faces in the illustrated papers. Look at the faces in the street."

What Chesterton means here is that too often politics is decided by what the media, in this case the "illustrated papers", wants you to see. People who let the media educate them will find their education to be either an incredibly one-sided one, or one that is simply dishonest. Chesterton urged his readers not to let media control their thinking about politicians, but to look to the people who will be at the end of all such political decisions.

Just as something else my sister is in England and has a blister where the tea cup is held on the finger now that she's had tea many times.

That is so awesome. Of course the reason people from England don't get such blisters is because they have tea like that from childhood, so the skin on the finger gets used to it.

Now back to the battle. The tea party movement is extremely stupid. They don't realize there are two things in life one must do pay taxes and die. I even feel we don't pay enough.

Yea, but the money should really go to something other than bailing out dying businesses who give out million dollar bonuses, even when they're failing...

Yes, more regulation is needed to stomp out any bonuses given to CEOs.

There is change needed, as Joe said that is problem. But the best way to fight the system is through the system, and by protesting and starting to break rules, you destroy the system and that's never good. I just hope they can keep things controlled long enough until the next elections. It's obvious the dems failed, and they will be ousted in 2012. Thanks for all the "Hope" and "Change" Obamallama... No, the government shouldn't be bailing them out. Do you get rewarded when you do something blatantly wrong?

Re: The Tea Party

Post  80-0 on 4/16/2010, 15:45

OH MY GOSH THOSE CEOs, we have to HATE THEM! THEY MAKE SO MUCH MONEY!

OH THE OIL COMPANIES

OH THE BANKS

OH THE THIS

OH THE THAT

HATE THEM! HATE THEM! HATE THEM! THEY ARE EVIL!

That's essentially what politicians have said during the crisis. Plus, politicians love blaming the economic crisis on these targets, as if they have any part to play in economic policy.

The bottom line is, if Obama was a businessperson and he was doing what he's doing now, he'd be in jail with Madoff.

They hate the CEOs, they hate the oil companies, they hate everything. It's the special interests. Yeah, the special interests are opposed to Obama.

Hey, I know a special interest that's opposed to Obama. It's called the American People. They want what is best for them, not what Obama SAYS is best for them. If Obama was an honest man, why wouldn't he make the plan optional and let whoever wants in to come on in? A believable person would first test out the system before RAMMING IT DOWN THE AMERICAN PUBLIC'S COLLECTIVE THROAT. But he's not believable and he is not honest.

Here's the key, folks: The American people don't elect a president to tell them what is best for them. Forget the campaign, that's all BS that makes people want to vote for them. The American people elect a president to do what they told him is best for them.

When Obama was campaigning, he didn't ask the people what they wanted, he told them what he wanted. That was America's mistake. They thought "Welllll, hey, he's a nice guy and he's got a plan!" even though he never really outlines it, and they elected him. It was only now and then did he mention a single payer system and whatnot, but now, he's gone whole-hog towards it. He didn't mention, though, during the campaign that the road to this system would be a 2000 page bill, nor that we wouldn't be allowed to read it until AFTER it was passed. If this isn't sleazy politics I don't know what is.

Btw, a belated happy Tax Day to all of you! cheers

Yes, and he's right.

BUT, those companies don't need regulation, they just need a nice big slap of reality.

For what? They CUT taxes. They don't NEED money. They make the government so that companies produce so much money that they won't need to worry about paying what little taxes that they would, but enough to fund important things like defense and whatnot.

I say we take over the oil companies in the US then we won't need to pay as many taxes as the excess money goes to the government to be used back for the people such as in education, police, fire, and other services.
