Sorry, I'm a conservative, and I believe in what's right and what America stands for. And I do NOT by any means support the socialist Cap and Trade bill.

How the heck is it socialist? And fyi, it's not like every idea in the world is either socialist or capitalist. There are gray areas. Some are light gray. Some are dark gray. And (my personal favorite) some are indistinguishably in the middle.

Also, socialism isn't ALWAYS a horrible thing. Heck, social security is a socialist idea. So if we stripped society of all things socialist, there would be no support system for people unable to work. Your grandparents would starve unless you took them in. Disabled people? Gone. Retards? Probably would end up in factories, where they would die of industrial accidents.

Which brings up another point: unions. That's a socialist idea, but without them we would still be in 1900's factory conditions. Ever read The Jungle?

I know I took a while to make it, but my point here is this: stop thinking socialist is a dirty word. It's just a word.

Also, the pressure would be on energy companies to be more efficient, and the car companies to design more fuel efficient cars.

Move to Europe where you can get a simple diesel car that gets 74-ish MPG stock how the car is. It's amazing that so few Americans realize that the EPA won't allow these cars inside of America. (guessing now here) Companies want to sell their product here in America, but the EPA is either restricting the cars that can come into America, slowly allowing higher MPG cars in to make more money, or they are soooo strict that they flat out don't want these awesome efficient cars in America.

THERE ARE 74 MPG Diesel cars in Europe. it makes me mad they aren't here.

It's not the EPA, it's the corporate world. They have all these rules about what you can and can't sell in different places. It stinks but when greed drives all, then you don't really think about ethics, or about what is actually good. And in studying Economics, what we should do is not give incentives to alternative energy technology, but REMOVE the incentive from the oil and automotive industries. Then naturally things will shift to more "green" energy sources.

Ugh, diesel...

DIESEL IS SO MUCH KRIFFIN' CHEAPER TO MAKE! But yet it's more expensive at the pump... That really ticks me off. It does so to my old English teacher as well, because the working men get the worst hit. Mad

Stop denying it

Post  Cpt. Crinkle on 10/8/2009, 22:33

Whoever is denying climate change needs to stop denying it. It's real if all the scientists in the world claim its real best to follow them. Though there was an mini ice age in the middle ages.

I agree the climate is changing.... But I don't agree that humans Have a huge affect on it and that we are killing our planet. The earth changes And the dang planet is a huge thermometer. It self adjusts

I agree. There have been many climate changes like this and it isn't really that serious...

Remember, our planet isn't static, it changes.

However I do believe all our waste DOES have some effect, statistically there is no way it couldn't. But I'm not so sure it is the chief driving force.

Yea, that's what I heard too. And we're almost to a system that almost completely cuts carbon emissions. Just give us another 20 years.

Yea... Well technically we contribute about 5% but that's with water vapor, which comes back down as rain to cool the planet anyways.
